FUENGIROLA ZOO
The spectacular Fuengirola Zoo is set amidst
tropical forests of Madagascan Equatorial
Africa and south-east Asia designed to
replicate the natural habitat of each and
everyone of the animal species living there.
This is the most modern Zoo in Spain . Large
areas have been created in which water and
vegetation are plentiful – rivers, gigantic
trees, waterfalls, bamboo-shrouded temples,
hanging bridges and abandoned mines.
Most people that have visited the Zoo have
returned to enjoy the experience again. It
is a beautiful Zoo, and a pleasure to walk
round and see the animals so well kept and
happy in there natural settings. The Zoo is

BULL FIGHTING
The bull fights create a mixed view. If you
are interested in Spanish tradition and
there is a bullfight on at the Plaza de
Toros in Mijas Pueblo, you may well wish to
check it out for yourselves.
I have been told it is one of the greatest
shows on earth, although I have never been
myself. Be warned there is blood and they do
kill the bulls, so it is not recommended for
the light hearted.
Bulls fights are just as popular today as
they have ever been in Andalusia. Booking in
advance is highly recommended as the tickets
sell very fast. |

CLIMBING
Those who find hiking not quite exciting enough, may
like to try mountaineering, rock climbing or caving,
all of which are popular in this part of Spain with
a wealth of challenges and some of the best areas in
Europe outside the Alps.
The Garganta el Chorro (El Chorro Gorge - pictured
here), two and a half miles long, up to 1,300 feet
deep, and, in places, barely 30 feet wide, briefly
splits the Andalusian heartland. Join the countless
climbers who home in from all over the world and
whose bright colors make its walls shimmer.
Choose from over 200 routes traced into the rock
face. Their names-The Policeman Stole My Walkman,
Brain Clot, Mama Wants to be a Bullfighter-are as
intriguing as the routes themselves. Standards range
from beginner-type clambering up the Placa de los
Cotos to scary routes up the near-vertical walls of
the gorge's steepest sections. There are several
mountaineering clubs and some challenging rock
faces, particularly around the area of El Chorro
near Alora (see above). Sierra de las Nieves,
between Ronda and Malaga or Sierra Almijara are also
popular with climbers |

PLAY PETANQUE (BOULES)
At Puebla Aida we have our own Pitch situated at the
rear of the Castle This has been recently built for
all to enjoy! The game is simple and fun, and gives
you the opportunity of meeting a great number of new
friends
Basic rules: Teams of three. Play two balls each.
Single Players play three balls. The jack is thrown
and one player from each team throws a ball.
The one with the nearest ball then makes the other
team continue throwing until they either win the
nearest ball or all of their balls are gone.
Scoring: The closest ball wins and also scores 1

their team. If the other balls belong to the
opponents then only one point is scored. The other
